Following the successful opening of our first flagship in Aoyama (2023) and our location at Dover Street Market Ginza (2024), we are proud to announce the opening of our third store in Japan, located in the vibrant heart of Shibuya, scheduled for opening spring 2026.
Our headquarters is based in Oslo, with a team of approximately 50 people, alongside colleagues in Japan, Spain and Denmark.
This opening represents a unique opportunity to take part in shaping Tom Wood’s next retail chapter in Japan.
Job description
As Store Manager of the new Shibuya store, you will be a key representative of Tom Wood in one of the most dynamic retail areas in Tokyo. Your role will be central in establishing the store, building a strong retail team, and delivering an elevated customer experience in line with our company values.
In addition to leading the team, you will be responsible for the smooth daily operations of the store, from ensuring efficient workflows and accurate reporting to overseeing merchandising, stock management, and visual presentation. You will act as a link between the Tom Wood Shibuya Store and our global team, ensuring alignment on sales goals, marketing initiatives, and customer engagement strategies.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a leadership role that combines people management, operational excellence, and customer service at the highest level.
Key responsibilities
- Build, coach, and lead a high-performing retail team, ensuring motivation, collaboration, and growth
- Establish a loyal customer base through strong client relationships and world-class service
- Oversee store operations, including sales, KPI’s, profitability, and inventory, in collaboration with the Head of Retail Operations
- Ensure the store always reflects Tom Wood’s brand standards, both in product presentation and customer service
- Lead recruitment of store staff in collaboration with Head of Retail Operations
- Provide feedback to the product development team and contribute to purchasing decisions
- Report on performance, budgets, and operations to the Head of Retail Operations, with a focus on continuous improvement
- Create and nurture a positive workplace culture, ensuring high engagement and strong alignment with Tom Wood’s values
The ideal candidate
- Minimum 5+ years experience in store management, preferably within high-end or luxury retail
- Proven track record in sales, clienteling, and team leadership
- Strong interest and experience within fashion and jewellery
- Organized, structured, and proactive way of working
- Experience leading a team of 10+ employees
- Business and growth mindset, with an understanding of the Japanese retail landscape
- Strong English communication skills
